In this role, you will join a small-but-mighty team (four attorneys, one paralegal) that provides the highest quality legal support – i.e., strategic, practical and efficient – to Yahoo’s HR organization and company management on a full range of U.S. labor and employment issues. You must be unfailingly responsive to your clients, who rely on you to provide guidance and support that reflects both a deep understanding of the business and outstanding professional judgment

To be considered for this position, you must:

  • Have a history of academic and professional overachievement
  • Have at least five years experience practicing employment law (in-house experience preferred)
  • Be adept at both employment litigation and counseling (bonus points awarded for compensation (including sales incentive and bonus plans) and benefits (health/welfare/retirement) experience)
  • Have a relentlessly strategic and practical approach to lawyering – the big picture is never far from your mind
  • Be comfortable with providing multi-state (and occasionally cross-border) legal guidance
  • Understand and enjoy resolving the interplay between various leave requirements (e.g., ADA, FMLA, STD, PTO, sick leave, parental leave and other state-specific leaves)
  • Enjoy staying current on employment law developments and providing your clients with practical guidance on any new legal requirements
  • Be a talented writer with an aptitude for highly efficient communications
  • Have the ability to interact and influence at all levels of an organization
  • Be excited by challenges, and not be fazed by moving quickly
  • Not require or desire micromanagement
  • Be approachable, responsive, ethical, and kind
